We set up mental health information tables at local events. They include details about NAMI Pasco programs, directions to finding local resources, information about mental health conditions, and friendly NAMI Pasco members to answer questions. This is an excellent way to start volunteering for NAMI Pasco. If you would like to suggest a community event suitable for a NAMI Pasco table or would like to volunteer to help at a table, please contact us at info@NAMIPasco.org
It’s not uncommon for families and individuals experiencing mental health symptoms to turn to a faith leader for support. “Bridges to Hope” is a free three hour mental health training program for faith community leaders. To schedule a seminar for your faith community, email info@NAMIPasco.org
NAMI Pasco works with the Pasco Sheriff's Office on Crisis Intervention Team (C.I.T.) Training. This training includes information regarding mental health conditions, medications, de-escalation techniques, Baker Act authority, and unusual behaviors such as suicide, homicide, and aggressiveness. The course includes a discussion with persons having a mental health condition who share their past interactions with the law.
Sharing Your Story with Law Enforcement (SYSLE) is a presentation program that trains peers and families to share their stories of mental illness and recovery during law enforcement training, such as Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training. Officers that hear these stories report greater empathy and understanding, and an increased desire to adapt their response to people experiencing a mental health crisis. NAMI’s goal is to ensure that every law enforcement officer has this opportunity.
NAMI Ending the Silence is an engaging presentation that helps audience members learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if you or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental health condition. If you would like to set up a presentation for your school, youth group, or faith community, please email info@NAMIPasco.org
NAMI Hearts+Minds is a full day whole body wellness program that is meant to educate and empower individuals in both their mental and physical health. If you would like to set up a presentation for your school, youth group, or faith community, please email info@NAMIPasco.org
We are pleased to offer a number of presentations to our community. Through our educational presentations, we can reduce stigma, provide needed community-related resources and inform the public that treatment works!
Schedule your presentation for civic groups, faith-based groups, schools, PTA’s, colleges, and professional organizations. Please allow 4 weeks advance notice if possible. To schedule a presentation, please email info@NAMIPasco.org
