Our Connection Recovery Support Group is a recovery support program for adults living with mental illness in which people learn from each others’ experiences, share coping strategies, and offer each other encouragement and understanding. A peer-facilitated group targeted toward helping family, friends, and caregivers who have a loved one with a mental illness. This confidential support group takes its strength and effectiveness from sharing experiences, compassion, and understanding.

What’s Peer-to-Peer Recovery Education About?

It’s a unique, experiential learning program for people with any form of mental illness interested in establishing and maintaining wellness and recovery. Our free10-week course for Individuals with a mental illness is taught by two trained NAMI Pasco peers.

NAMI Basics is the new signature education program for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illnesses. It is taught by trained teachers who are the parent or other caregivers of individuals who developed the symptoms of mental Illness prior to the age of 13 years. All instruction and course materials are free to class participants.

Our NAMI Basics outreach video gives viewers a sample of what to expect, how to break away from loneliness and confusion. “A knowledgeable parent is an effective parent,” as one of our interviewees says.

The 12-week Family-to-Family course is designed for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses that discusses the clinical treatment of these illnesses and teaches the knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively. We also offer this same coursework for families of U.S. Veterans, which includes an additional module on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Explore our Family-to-Family tribute.
