20th Anniversary Conference
The “Investing in our Future Heroes” Conference celebrates 20 years of professional development for the Early Childhood Council as our first conference was held in 1995. But it also is about ‘investing’ time, energy and resources toward child and family development to ensure that children are nurtured, educated and supported by their families and communities for they will become tomorrow’s teachers, social workers, firefighters/EMTs, lawyers, electricians, architects and engineers. They do not become future ‘heroes’ by accident. This conference is also based on the premise that early childhood experiences from birth onward have unique powers in the development of a child.
The conference will features innovative practices from the fields of early learning & education, infant mental health, evidence-based practices, maternal & child health, and child welfare. All lines of development must combine to foster the optimal growth and development of young children. Similarly, this conference promotes capacity and opportunities for all practitioners dedicated to the well-being and positive development of all young children.
Conference attendees will include foster care workers, early educators, caregivers, physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, university students and faculty, therapists from many different disciplines, case managers, child advocates, and program administrators.
Dr. Zeanah is a Professor of Psychiatry and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Vice-Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at the Tulane University School of Medicine. He is also an Executive Director of the Institute of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health.
